This blog is an effort to keep people up-to-date on what’s happening in my life in India. It would be impossible to capture my whole experience here and the wide range of observations I’ve made. So, instead, I’m focusing on food and culture–my two favorite themes. I hope to convey what it’s like to live in this city by highlighting what makes Mumbai such an incredibly lively and energized place.

Sheer delight going through this vivid recounting of your experiences- a treat for the senses 🙂 and a matter of pride being apart of some of the nostalgia!!
This makes my mouth water and I am yearning for a good Indian restaurant here in the foothills of the Rockies in Fort Collins. Business opportunity for you and Nick when you get back (?) great photos! Keep up the fun and adventure!
Hey Nellie,
I stumbled upon this blog when I was searching an exact address for a restaurant in Pali Hllll. I used to live in Bombay until a few years ago, and I am finding it very interesting to view a place I once knew well and loved from an expatriate’s point of view. Your refreshing sensibility has given me a whole new perspective on nostalgia! I am an Indian doctor who is shortly going to the States to conduct research and your blog has given me an idea of writing one of my own, an Indian’s viewpoint of an American life. Great going!
Cheers,
Naynish
Hi Nayish,
Thank you for your comment! I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed my blog–feedback like yours is what inspires me to keep writing posts. I loved my time in Mumbai and had so much fun exploring the food scene there (I miss Pali Hill!). I’m certain that I got a few details wrong in my posts (names of food, etc.), but I was just so enraptured by the whole experience, and writing it down is a great way to keep track of all the different adventures I had. I highly recommend writing about your own food experiences as an expat in the US. If nothing else, it will be fun to read it in the future, or, you may even find a readership of people who enjoy your point of view! If you do decide to start a blog, please send it my way. I’d love to read it.
Though I no longer update my India food blog, I have started a new food blog called Banana Gulch (www.bananagulch.wordpress.com). Banana Gulch is slightly more broad in theme, but has covered my food ventures in London (where I currently live) and other locations in Europe.
Again, thank you for your kind comment! Best of luck as you start your own blog!
Nellie
